Why baskets first
Baskets come first because carrying comes before furniture.
Before people store, display, or decorate, they move things.
Food, tools, laundry, harvest, trade. Daily life is transport.
A basket is the minimum viable structure:
flexible but stable, light but strong, repairable, breathable, scalable.
It solves movement without needing infrastructure.
Most designed objects refine comfort.
Carrying systems enable survival.
Therefore, opening with baskets isn’t heritage-driven.
It’s system-driven.
If you understand how something must travel, you understand how it should be made.
Everything else in the home follows that logic.
